The tape is usually a PVC or polypropylene with an aggressive adhesive suitable for boxes. It can be any color, but usually the imprint is printed diagonally, with patterns. The tape can be custom imprinted with patterns to prevent cutting and lining up the tape.

They can be used on various surfaces including corrugated, plastic, metal, wood, cardboard. They cannot be resealed once opened because the security tape reveals a hidden message, typically ‘opened’. If the hidden message is revealed then it’s understood that someone has opened the parcel. They are also available in labels and used as security seals to prevent indiscretion in confidential mails.

They are suitable for use on cardboard and other forms of outer packaging as they leave a semi-permanent signal on the surface to which they are applied.
