These
tapes are designed to light up instantly during power outage, making it
easy to see hazards or escape routes inside your facility. They glow
without the need for electricity. They are meant for only indoor use.
The tapes are made of two components: a carrier, which is usually
paper, plastic, cloth or rubber, and an adhesive, which is either water
or solvent, based.
There are several types of self-adhesive tapes:
- Paper masking tape: featuring a synthetic
rubber hot-melt adhesive system offering good initial grab.
Excellent short-term peel clean properties.
- Photographic tape: a conformable, opaque
black paper tape that is easy to tear. Ideal as a photographers
masking tape.
- Elephant blob: an extruded sealant directly
manufactured onto a glassine line of paper. It is available in black
or white and is ideal for fixing items on location, in the theatre
and in the studio.
- Coloured paper tape: featuring a synthetic
rubber hot-melt adhesive system offering good initial grab.
- Grid rule metric tape: self-adhesive, high
visibility, vinyl truss ruler, printed with metric
measurements along the roll.
- Tamper evident security tape: offers extra
security on boxed packages.
- Polypropylene tapes: ideal for heavy
cartons. The tape works well with adjustable clutch hand dispensers.
- Strapping: mono oriented polypropylene of a
highly longitudinal strength used for palletizing.
- Reinforced self-adhesive tapes: suitable for
reinforcing the edges of heavy cartons. The remarkably high
bi-directional strength makes it ideal for numerous heavy-sealing
applications.
They are available in a wide range of colors, sizes and adhesive
formulations. They are used for masking, structural, shielding and
insulating application. They are for surface protection, ducting, or
holding applications. Also used for stationary and household purposes.
The disadvantage of self adhesive tape is that it causes staining and
irreversible long-term damage.
