Sealing
tape is a tape with a conformable bi-axially-oriented polypropylene
backing and a consistent pressure sensitive hot melt rubber-resin
adhesive system. Sealing tapes come in a great variety of different
guises, different film and adhesive formulations. Sealing tapes are
compatible with aqueous and organic solvents resulting in minimal
evaporation or cross contamination. They withstand temperatures from
-70(C to +110C).
Three most commonly types of sealing tapes used are:
- PVC tape: used to be the accepted bench mark
self adhesive tape.
- Release tape: polypropylene tape that has a
particular combination of adhesive and film properties that allow
its release characteristics to be very similar to those of vinyl.
- Standard polypropylene tape: has incredible
strength and is widely used in all sorts of packing environments. It
can rapidly release from the roll, accompanied by a loud noise.
Applications
Sealing tape function as gaskets, forming a seal to prevent air, vapor,
moisture, dirt and sound infiltration. They are used in most
applications as a high performance gasket. They eliminate the sticky
problem associated with other types of sealant.
Sealing tapes are available for both manual and machine applications.
Available in a variety of colors and widths. They perform to the highest
standard giving optimum water resistance and remain soft and flexible.
They are designed to create superior seal with required compression for
air, vapor, moisture, water, dirt and sound. They are able to dampen
vibration. They are economical to use because of their faster
installation, reduced waste and minimal surface preparation.
They are used for primary building and construction sealant, as glazing
and bedding compounds, as insulated window sealant. They are very
effective for sealing controls. They offer protection from external
contamination.
