Protective
tapes are available with a broad range of adhesive formulations. They
are applied without wrinkling or bubbling and can be removed easily.
They offer excellent abrasion resistance and can withstand laser
cutting.
They are manufactured from a variety of materials including light
polyethylene, vinyl chloride, and air permeating papers. Bonding agents
are made of rubber, acrylic, or polyolefin materials, each with a
different bonding strength. Ease of peeling the tape off surfaces will
vary depending on the type of material it is bonded to, the passage of
time after attaching, and thermal conditions.
These are available in a wide variety of products, colors, widths and
lengths for indoor and outdoor applications. Applications include
construction, road maintenance, manufacturing, veterinary and sport.
Applications
Protective tapes are used for protecting delicate surface from
scratching and marring. Also used to protect the metal surface during
stamping and shearing operations as well as during transit and
installation. They offer protection of parts during assembly, shipping
and installation. They have an extensive history of surface protection
in commercial, business, civilian and military aviation applications.
Protective tapes are also used in wafer grinding system. They are
applied by a tape applying mechanism to a surface of a wafer
suction-supported by a chuck table. The protective tape is cut to the
shape of the wafer by a cutter unit. Then, a protective tape is cut to
the shape of the wafer by a cutter unit. Then a protective tape having
stronger adhesion than the first protection tape is applied over the
protective tape. The protection tapes in piles are separated together
from the surface of the wafer in one separating operation of a
tape-separating device.
