Polypropylene
is a polymer prepared catalytically from propylene which differs from
HDPE by having an isostatic replacement of a hydrogen atom by a methyl
group on alternate carbon atoms in the main chain.
Printed Polypropylene films for packing are produced using the latest
technology and are particularly clear and glossy. Logos, symbols and
messages can be printed on the film for specifications or personal use.
Printing is done using a laser printer using a color ink.
Vulcan is a range of inks formulated for flexo and gravure printing on
treated coextruded polypropylene films. Vulcan inks exhibit print
qualities and adhesion when run on the modern high speed presses. These
inks give moderate gloss but the gloss can be improved by application of
heat resistant overcoat.
Applications
Printed Polypropylene films are widely used for packing of ice creams,
groceries, confectionery, and bakery products. They are also used for
garment packaging. Apart from all the typical applications of printed
polypropylene films, they are used in a wide era of magnetic, industrial
and capacitor applications.
