Laser films are polyester films used mostly for laser
printers. A number of laser printer models use these polyester films that
are coated on both sides. Laser films are thermally stabilized and are
available in a variety of finishes including transparent, matte, and white
opaque. To avoid any kind of shrinking or curling that might be caused due
to the heat generated in the laser printers, they are pre-shunk. The
pre-shrunk feature of these laser print films is an important feature that
helps them withstand the heat generated in these printers.
Besides being coated, thermally stabilized and pre-shrunk, laser films also
have a special coating which is intended at improving the toner adhesion
when used with either black or color laser printers or photocopiers.
Types of Laser Print Films

Laser Print Films are available in a variety of types that are specifically
made to suit different kinds of laser printer needs. Below mentioned are a
few of the important types of laser print films.
Polifoil Laser Film - Transparent polyester film. The film is coated
on both the sides. On one side they are coated with a layer that enhances
toner adhesion and density allowing direct to plate exposure. Coated on the
other side with an anti-static treatment for easy automatic feeding.
Polimat Laser Print Films - Best thermally stabilized matte
polyester films for use with most models of laser printers. Coated on both
sides with a matte layer that provides the best toner adhesion and
anti-static properties. The coating is abrasion resistant and ensures
uniform, high density toner adhesion even on large areas. Applications
include direct plate exposure on offset and photopolymer plates, and
creation of positive screens for screen printing.
Filmat laser - Matte polyester films for use with most models of
laser printers. Coated on both sides with a matte layer that provides good
toner adhesion and anti-static properties.
Econolaser - Non-thermally stabilized matte polyester film for black
& white jobs. For use in laser printers that do not become excessively
hot.
Laser film is widely used as a packaging film. Specific uses of this
film include laser printer creation of debit, credit, identification, or any
other temporary card or durable documentation. The film is also used on
photocopier machines to create overhead transparencies.
