Holographic
display is a portrait, image or a design with a 3D effect, reproducing a
virtual sensation of real objects. It attempts to present the user with
a realistic scene. The realism involves the use of depth cues. Portraits
on the display can be of God, celebrities, family, children, wedding,
etc. It can also have some artistic designs, scenes of gardens, space,
museum, etc.
Types of Holographic Display
Holographic display can be of the following types:
- Stereoscopic Display- A display system that
gives a 3D effect with the help of an external aid like glasses.
- Autostereoscopic Display- A display
technology that can produce truly 3D images that look as good as the
actual 3D objects and scenes.
Technique of applying Holographic Display
Fill a tube with three noble gases that are non-reactive with each
other and the tube material. Each gas must respond to a laser wavelength
with that particular color. Then, take three lasers and split each beam
in a holographic style and fire one beam of each straight into the tube.
The other half of the beam sets up interference patterns according to
the information it gets from the data source. The data source can be a
computer with super duper 3D card or live holographic camera. The
interference pattern thus formed shows up a moving or still 3D picture.
Applications
They are widely used for interactive graphic application. Typical
applications include posters, pop-up displays, product enhancement,
sales presentation, mixed media display, and celebrity product
endorsement.
