Foam
tapes are adhesive-coated polyolefin foam with the adhesive protected by
a liner in the form of a tape. These tapes are proven high performance
attachment systems for bonding automotive accessory and trim parts. They
offer a choice of different foam carriers, urethane, vinyl,
elastometric, polyethylene, acrylic or neoprene, with either an acrylic
or rubber adhesive system.
Characteristics
Foam tapes are designed for gap filling and vibration dampening and
provide secure seals against air, dust and UV light. They perform well
over a wide range of temperatures and have high load bearing ability.
They bond securely to a wide range of substrates having consistent
lasting seal. They are clean to use and have a longer life. They provide
handling convenience, cushioning, impact resistance and conformability.
They distribute stress uniformly over bonded area. Stress forces of an
application are dissipated throughout the foam core, providing excellent
long-term performance.
They eliminate the concern for rust development associated with the use
of mechanical fasteners. They also eliminate the unsightly appearance of
bolt, screw or rivet heads. Foam does not absorb water and provides good
thermal insulation properties.
Foam tapes are available in a variety of thickness, densities, liners,
die cuts, colors and a wide range of adhesive formulations. Tapes are
available in black and white, and are conformable to irregular surfaces.
