double-sided adhesive, electrically conductive tape was specially
developed for attaching samples to be examined. It has no discernible
structure and provides the ideal background against which to view the
whole specimen. Use of tapes greatly reduces the background x-ray
counts, giving greater accuracy and lower detection limits. This tape
has been introduced to meet the demands of those working with UHS
systems, who want to reduce the amount of exposed organic surfaces in
their systems. Innovative conductive fibers extend above the adhesive,
ensuring a solid electrical connection between the substrates.
The tape enables the mounting of samples without contamination from any
paint. It enables the mounting of highly porous or absorbent samples
without distortion caused by liquid being pulled into the sample. It
also provides good conductivity. The tape is extremely lightweight and
has excellent conformability to enhance shielding performance and
appearance. They are generally made of aluminum and copper, because of
their high conductivity.
Typical applications include cable shielding terminations, and joining
metal panels together at the seams of an enclosure. They are also used
in navigation system, entertainment system, CD/receiver head units,
display shields, card cage shields, and roadside assistance system. Also
used for thermal management for bonding heat spreaders and stiffeners.
