Polyethylene Films For A Greenhouse

June 28 2010- Polyethylene films are are made by oxidative polymerization of ethylene gas and have thermoplastic properties. Polyethylene sheets are processed with a process known as extrusion. Polyethylene film sheets and polyethylene film rolls are used extensively by industrial manufacturers for a variety of uses. Of these variety of uses, one of the interesting uses of polyethylene films is its growing commercial use for greenhouse. Greenhouses are special spaces developed cold weather conditions for the plants. greenhouses are warm and help plants grow in temperatures that suit them. The moisture preventing ability of the polyethylene film sheet makes them a preferred choice of the commercial greenhouse setters.

Polyethylene films rolls are very useful for making greenhouses. Greenhouses can be made of a variety of construction materials like the steel, wood, aluminium and plastic. It depends on the duration for which the greenhouse will be constructed. If it will be there for a longer time of the season, stronger and more durable materials like wood may be used. For temporary arrangements plastic can be used as well. To cover this structure and make it warm, the sides and the roof need to be made of a material that allows warming up of the greenhouse.




The preferred construction materials for greenhouse are glass, shade cloth, polycarbonate or the polyethylene films. Polyethylene films, polyethylene rolls, polyethylene sheets and polycarbonate are used by commercial plantation people. There are a number of reasons to why the commercial growers prefer the polycarbonate or the polycarbonate film sheets over other types of construction materials for a greenhouse. Most importantly, polyethylene film rolls and sheets available in ranges that have different life spans. Variety of life spans ranges in polyethylene films and polyethylene sheets allows the greenhouse constructors a freedom of choice, depending upon the duration for which they want to set up the greenhouse. Talking of those who set up a greenhouse for shorter durations of the season any of the above mentioned construction materials - shade cloth, polycarbonate or a polyethylene film sheet - may be used depending upon the resources.
