Application
tape is a translucent material with an adhesive on one side applied to
the front of some graphics before applying the graphic to the substrate.
In general, it aids in the handling and application of graphics and
protects their surface.
Installation
Application tape can be laminated with hand or with a laminator. While
laminating, avoid trapping air bubbles between the pressure-sensitive
vinyl and the tape. If the bubbles appear in the tape, they will
inevitably appear in the applied graphic. Stretched tape usually shrinks
back in the direction of its original, pre-stretched state, causing the
vinyl graphic to cut. So, the application tape should not be stretched.
Overlapping should be avoided because otherwise tiny bubbles will appear
on the site of overlapping. For screen printed decals, thoroughly cure
inks and clear coats before applying the transfer tape. Cold weather and
wet applications frequently require more time for graphics adhesive to
bond to substrates. Stickiness, lifting edges, dark tapes, and prolonged
storage should be avoided.

Characteristics
Application tapes feature a variety of paper and polyethylene
constructions with varying tack for application versatility. From
protecting graphics during transportation to transferring lettering and
graphics, these tapes are essential tools for applicators. Typical
applications of these tapes include transmitting of graphics, museum
displays, frosted window decoration, graphic shadowing, illuminated
signage, fleet marking, logos and signs. A comprehensive range of
specialized application tape is used for critical vinyl sign making
applications.
Application tapes provide proven performance in all areas of
signmaking, screen printing, wide format digital and roll label printing
applications.
Adhesive lagging is very common with conventional application tapes.
Improved properties are added to eliminate annoying adhesive strings.
